I found a quote once by Maya Angelou that I thought best summed up my life……
Life offers us tickets
to places
we have not knowingly asked for.
Then it makes us
pay the fare.
So true. You just never know what is going to happen in your life. I’m AARP eligible, married to a man that doctors told me wouldn’t survive six years ago, AND raising a toddler. I’m a cranky Yankee, transplant to the south - southern by default. I believe that I’ve maintained my integrity throughout the years, and I’ve upheld my values. I’ve done the best that I could and it hasn’t always been good enough, because along the way I’ve lost people and relationships that were important to me. I know some needed to be lost, but that doesn’t make it any easier. I’ve made more than my share of mistakes and it took most of my fifty years to learn from them, but I think I’ve got it now.
What I would like is simple. I’d like to live out what time my husband and I have left together with more joy, and less regret. I’d like to raise my daughter to be strong. I believe that our little girl is helping us to be better people – I want to be a good mother to her and a better wife. I plan on painting a picture of my life here, so I can look at it closely, see the imperfections and try to repair what I can. I’d like to share some of myself in the hopes someone will learn from my failures, as well as my triumphs. I hope you’ll check in once in awhile. I don’t mind if you disagree, because there’s still enough of that cranky Yankee inside of me to argue my point, though I hope that there’s enough southern in me to do it in a way, that you go away feeling blessed.
Welcome to my weblog.

Comment by Aimee July 17, 2008 @ 5:08 pmJust remember that the curve balls life throws us occur for a reason, even if you can’t understand why. Ultimately, we all gain something from our experiences, mainly the ability to reflect, but that is only if you are lucky. It seems as though you have gained that ability, which will definately allow for resolution. I must say though don’t spend too much time beating yourself up over mistakes and trying to repair them. We all make them(WE ARE HUMAN). Know it or not you have obtained more insight and knowledge than you even know. So, quickly evaluate, move forward and enjoy all the great things to come. Too much time dwelling on the past will be like a thief to your future.
